Scatter plots

If you have two sets of data and you want to illustrate their relationship, a scatter plot is recommended. This type of chart is a powerful way to identify relationships and identify outliers. However, scatter plots are generally used more for data analysis than presentation. Scatter plots become easier to interpret if the line of best fit is drawn.

The above subsections have discussed good practice for bar charts, line charts, pie charts, and scatter plots. Other visual means not discussed that should be considered are: spider maps (also referred to as radar charts), heat maps and Sankey diagrams, which are very effective and widely used.
